Frequently asked questions
What is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of the active compounds found within Agricultural Hemp (Cannabis Sativa L.) plant.
Is CBD legal?
Marijuana containing over 0.3% THC is illegal at the federal level. Under the Controlled Substances Act, marijuana is a Schedule I illicit substance; drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Dew Drops Wellness products comply with this act and do not contain more than 0.3% THC in any of our products that may contain THC.
If it doesn’t say CBD on the bottle, is it CBD? How do I know?
In this growing category, terminology is still developing, so some brands will use terms like Hemp Extract and others may use CBD oil. Every CBD company should be happy to provide you with a COA (certificate of analysis), which will show the level of CBD, as well as other cannabinoids detected in the sample. We are always happy to help you navigate the CBD and Hemp terrain, as well.
What is the endocannabinoid system (ECS)?
Research is showing the endocannabinoid system (ECS) to be a vital bodily system in all mammals, responsible for establishing and maintaining overall well being. The ECS and CBD receptors, CB1 and CB2, are found throughout the body, in the brain, connective tissue, organs, glands and immune system.
What do people take CBD for?
As research continues, we are learning more and more how essential the ECS is to health and happiness. As the ECS can be likened to an internal balancer, we can say that CBD is used to return us to our own personal states of healthy balance. What that means for you is likely different than what it means for me, and what it addresses and balances in you will be unique.
We are not legally permitted to list specific conditions, but please see the link below for published clinical studies on CBD.
Does it have a psychoactive effect?
No. CBD does not produce any psychoactive effect.
Will I notice an immediate effect?
Some will, some won’t. As balance is the goal, the response and response time is very individual, and this will also depend on what symptoms we are using as our guides. Some individuals report relief from pain or anxiety relatively quickly, while others note a more restful sleep after a few weeks, and how that sleep is improving mood and mobility.
Which extraction method is best?
We are still learning so much about this herb extraction method as it’s debatable in the industry. At Dew Drops Wellness, we like the CO2 extraction method for its cleanliness, low environmental impact, and low temperature, which allows us to retain all of Mother Earth’s goodness from the plant matter.
Which one is the best?
Every brand will, of course, tell you that they are the best. This is a matter of personal preference and standards. At Dew Drops Wellness, we look for a CBD that is grown and harvested with respect to our Earth Mother, third party tested for purity, potency, fungicides, pesticides, residual solvents, bacteria and fungi/molds, processed and manufactured responsibly and distributed with knowledge and science. If it also happens to be Kentucky Proud, you know we love that!
How is it different from marijuana?
Although they are from the same Cannabis plant family, Agricultural Hemp and the Medical Marijuana plant are different in many ways. The main differences are that Hemp yields high CBD and low THC (mandatory less than 0.3% per dry weight), where Marijuana produces high THC and low CBD, and Hemp is legal in Indiana and Kentucky, where Marijuana is not.
How much should I take?
There is no way to predict your perfect dose. It is not determined by age, gender, weight or condition. As the purpose of CBD is to help balance your internal balancer, the EndoCannabinoid System or ECS, and we are all imbalanced in individual ways, it makes sense that our doses would be individual, too. The one thing that is helpful across the board, is to Start Low and Grow Slow. Start with a low dose, listen to your body, and slowly increase to find your state of balance.
How do I take it?
CBD is available in many forms today. At Dew Drops Wellness, we have extract oils, capsules, topicals and even food options, like honey and chocolate! How you choose to take your CBD supplement is unique to you and your needs. Frequency and dosage will be individual, but the optimal technique for the extract oil is to let the oil rest under your tongue or in the side of your cheek for absorption.
How do I know if I need the oil, capsules or balm?
It depends on why you are taking it. Is it purely physical? Can you point to it? Try the balm. Is it physical but mobile? Widespread? Try the oil or capsules, and if you can point to it (hands, knees, shoulder) use the balm for extra support. Is it CNS or psychological? Try the oil or capsules. Oil: pro- fast absorption, con- bitter herbaceous taste Capsules: pro- tasteless, con- longer absorption time.
How can I support my endocannabinoid system (ECS), and CBD supplement?
How you support your endocannabinoid system (ECS) widely varies based on an individual’s lifestyle, medications, and metabolism. To truly support your ECS you must embrace a lifestyle change. What you eat, your exercise regimen, what supplements you take, and what medications you are on all directly affect your personal ECS. Every person is different, so how aspects of lifestyle and CBD products effect each person may differ. If you would like to talk more about your specific needs, please contact us!
